General ambience of hotel was good.

We thought food was slightly expensive, even in the bar. Our bedroom was very nice but being on the front of the hotel was noisy from customers sitting outside smoking in the evening and traffic (bus stop outside) during day.

My room was wonderful and I love the country and as I was on business it was like being at home.

I like the Hotel, good Restaurant and nice Pub.

We were well looked after by the staff and enjoyed a relaxing meal in the restaurant as the pub was busy on a Friday night. We stayed in the cottage which was very pleasant.

A bedside table on both sides of the bed would be beneficial.

The staff were all helpful and friendly .Michel exceptionally so.I enjoyed the food .I reccomend booking ahead as this restaurant is very popular. We booked a superior room and it was utterly charming .Very good cooked breakfast .

      Staff were friendly

tv did not work in the first room I was offered. Only 4 tv channels in next room offered. There was also a diversion of views , initially, on the price (booked through the internet) that I thought I should be paying and the price quoted for the rooms by the manager !!

Breakfast excellent. Staff very polite and pleasant. Room was very quiet on a Easter Sunday. Cosy bar area and nice bar food. Restaurant looked lovely but we didn't have dinner in there as too expensive. Great location to explore the Surrey Hills and near to both Dorking and Leatherhead for shops etc.

Food was expensive. Wouldn't pay the any more than £50 - £60 per night (which we didn't although this was a discounted rate from the normal, I think) for the room which was very small and just average - small bed as well. Shower bracket was fixed upside down so that water was permanently directed at wall instead of on to you meaning you had to hold shower head in your hand to have a shower. No heating in one of our rooms - heater didn't work at all - we did report this and although a very nice gentleman came to look at it straightaway he didn't cure the problem. Luckily heated towel rail in bathroom was extremely hot so heat drifted through to bedroom!

Friendly, relaxed and luxury. Perfect for the weekend I wanted to plan

Food in restaurant (evening meal and breakfast) very good indeed. Genuine traditional pub with emphasis on quality. Bed comfortable, room quiet, bed linen luxurious. Staff pleasant and helpful withour excessive familiarity. Easy to find. Good choice of real ales, those I tried were in good condition.

Bedroom a bit cramped, no armchairs, so only place to sit and relax was the bar, which, it being Saturday, was crowded and noisy.

Lovely historic country pub, a few minutes walk to Box Hill, great food in the restaurant or at the bar, charming rooms & very helpful staff - particularly the gentleman looking after breakfast & check out - would definitely recommend.

The staff friendly & food excellant

Took a while to check in staff a little slow

The location was beautiful, a lovely country inn set in a peaceful village at the foot of the surrey hills. It's really well placed for long country walks. The superior bedroom was really well prestented and had a gorgeous four poster bed. Excellent cooked breakfasts included in the price and the service was fantasic.

Both the restaurant and bar menus are very expensive and although the food is lovely and service excellent, there's not really anywhere else to go so it's a captive audience. The pub downstairs was noisy in the evening and at kicking out time people chat outside and every word can be heard in the room, although that's probably to be expected from this type of accomodation.

The Running Horses Inn was probably the poorest value for money I have experienced in a very long time. Uncomfortable beds, paid extra for a 'Feature Room' only to find on arrival that they were 'all' feature rooms with the exception being one four poster room!!! Felt duped. The bar was cramped, the food unexceptional, (in fact we sent the steak back) and the staff were efficient but very curt. We will not be going back !

The staff were very accomodating when we needed to change rooms. The food was amazing.

Our first room had a beautiful 4 poster bed however, it was really creaky!
